Today our whole life is on our phones I use my calendar to schedule my appointments, set my alarm, my music, camera. Not much social interaction is needed when you have a smart phone, like FFS you can even order food from your phone to be delivered to your house, you can organise a date on your phone using an app with one swipe.
This generation is addicted to their phones/ technology. We are loosing the art of communication and valuable life skills because we are way too busy and involved with what is going on with other people who are irrelevant. Who the f*ck cares what someones sister who you went to school with is doing, who cares what your friends brothers, friends cousin is doing? Who cares about what slim tea some celeb is supposedly drinking? WHO CARES? for some unknown reason.. we do.. Why?
Technology is something we all get so caught up in, do you know anyone without a smart phone? I don't, even my mum has one. Yes, they can be great and do have many benefits but they also have just as many downfalls.
Going back 10 years ago, I used to ride my bike to the library to play neopets with my friends (probably showing my age if you have no idea what neopets is). We rode our bikes around our neighborhood and went to the park. I took a camera out clubbing and to parties and then printed the photos out at K-mart to put in my photo album, Now its as simple as taking a selfie and putting it up for the world to see. Now we all communicate in a group text message or Facebook message. I know time can sometimes be an issue for some specially working full time, I working 3 jobs myself, get that.
Even when we do have a chance to go out, everyone is busy sending the people they are not with snap chats of what they are doing, Instagram-ing what they are eating, Facebook-ing where they are rather than being in the moment and enjoying that time with the people they are with. We have forgotten how to go outside and have fun and to enjoy the simple things - this includes me, along the way I have lost myself. Its time to get back out there and enjoy the simple things. I want to make my life meaningful and make memories, I don't want lots of things, I want LOTS of memories with the people I adore.
People only put the good stuff on social media, heck I sure as hell am not going to upload a picture of myself looking like a gutter troll, I'm only going to put a picture up when I'm looking on point and feeling good. What I'm saying is people only put their highlight reel up and the sad part is that highlight reel is what people take away and compare themselves to. When in reality you are comparing yourself to a fake version of something that doesn't actually exist.
