Do you remember who you were before the world told you or influenced you? I sure as hell don't. So much has changed over the past 5 years. Growing up from being told "just be yourself, everyone else is taken" to everyone just being a mirror of someone else and just copying what is the "in" thing at time.
We are so easily influenced with what is posted on social media and what other people are doing, for example I hear a lot of people say they just want abs.. But why? Is it because those chicks on Instagram smothered in oil have them? Or because you are committed to health and fitness and that is your end goal? You really need to ask yourself "Do I really want/need this for myself, or am I a f*cking sheep? (BAA) "
I think people have a perfect picture of what their life should look like because of what they have seen in movies or magazines. I had a picture of what I thought my life would look like by now and let me tell you I have achieved f*ck all of that.. but that's life, things aren't always peachy.. and every set back is made for a bigger come back!
Old me is so much wiser that young me. If old me could give the young me advice I would be killin' it right now - instead of failing at life! (there are no mistakes in life, only lessons learnt) I would know to follow my instinct rather than fearing being the outcast for not being the same as everyone else. I would know that its not the things or stuff you have in life that matters its the experience and the memories you make with people... Not your iPhone or the latest fad.
If there is one thing I have learnt in the past year, it is that everyone is at different stages in their life there is absolutely no need for you to be the same as everyone else. We are ALL different and are at different stages in our lives, what worked for someone may not work for you. Just be true to yourself and follow your dreams. If you don't feel it is right, then it probably isn't.
