20 THINGS I WISH I KNEW 10 YEARS AGO

1. Some people only come into your life to teach you somethin
Lets face it I'm sure we have all had some not so pleasant people in our lives which entered as "friends" but left as no one? I know I have had my fair few of doozy friends & its only in the last 5-8 years that I have learnt its ok to stand up for yourself in "friendships" now im not saying it was all doom and gloom, I sure did learn a lot from previous friendships. I have learnt not to be a doormat, and not to treat otherpeople how I do NOT want to be treated.

2. Harbouring anger is a waste of time
Crikey! I can't tell you how many hours I have wasted being angry over shit that was out of my control, be angry cry but make sure you get over it.. or you will get wrinkles on your forehead like me.

3. You DONT have to be like everyone else
This was a major lesson for me super recently and I'm not going to lie and say "OMG its so easy to be yourself" because its not. Trying to stand out from the crowd really challenges you to be comfortable with who you are on the inside and the outside.. which is something I'm still working on. The main reason I wan't to be different is to set the example to the younger generation so they know its OK to be different you don't have to be like everyone else.

4. You DONT have to work a 9-5 job in a multistorey building to be "successful"
I hear alot of people bag out self employed people thinking they are leeches and lazy but you know what I worked in an office in a Government job for 7 years and I can tell you so much hard work goes into being your own boss, so many hours, your heart and soul really goes into everything you do.

5. Time is precious ... so fuck the haters
Lets be honest life is too short and I'm sure we have all spent enough time worrying about why certain people hate us.. but you know what.. who cares? Unfortunately the world is full of haters they arent going to change so dont let them ruin your happiness with their bitterness.

6. Quality over quantity
Again another recent lesson for me, I used to have so many friends.. but over the last 5 years I can say my friends have dropped but thats cool the friends I have now are amazing, and I wouldn't be where I am now without their support. I can even say I have met the most amazing friends through what I do & I know they have my back no matter what.. and that is such a good feeling. I really struggled to fit in as I was younger and was bullied but I have really found what I can say are my life long friends and Im so happy.

7. People are going to judge you no matter what.. & that's ok.. its more a reflection of themselves than you anyway.
Doesn't matter who you are or what you do, there is always going to be someone out there who disagrees with what you're doing for some reason and that is more a reflection on themselves than you. You don't know they could be having a bad day (which is no excuse) but they choose to take that mood out on you - so shrug it off and more forward without their negative energy.

8. Comparison is a waste of time (still in the process of mastering this one)
I feel like this just takes years of practice, Something I am still in the process of mastering but over time it is something I am slowly getting better at. In this day and age it is so hard especially with all the social media that surrounds us.

9. If it drains you... CUT IT AWAY
Speaks for itself really, Im sure we have either had that toxic friendship or something similar that just takes all your energy, some times you just have to bite the bullet and cut it away especially if it helps you... sometimes we just out grow people.

10. If it wont matter in 5 years move on.
I can bet a lot of you have had moments in life where you spend all night crying over some school yard bull$hit and I can actually confirm this shit doesn't matter in 5 years I wish I knew what I know now in high school because I had some pretty shitty times at school.. what can I say... some girls are just trolls. I know it might seem hard at the time but let me tell you now people who make you cry and feel bad are NOT worthy of your time at all... Cut them away and find better friends you definitely will NOT regret doing this.

11.Life isn't a race
Another epiphany that I have had in the last 5 years, life is no race... news flash no one gets out alive.. Doesn't matter if you don't follow the old school way of "first comes marriage then comes baby in the baby carriage" I cannot count the amount of times that I have been asked when I will have kids..Legit once I can look after myself self sufficiently I may consider having kids but until then I am in no rush what so ever. I have big dreams.. and like my sleep WAY too much so I would rather wait until Im ready.. not just have a baby because that is what society expects.

12. Social media is a highlight reel
I sometimes feel inadequate because of the tanned goddesses I see on social media but then I am brought back to reality and think they probably don't look like that all the time. My most common look is the troll under the bridge.. that's my real look.. A lot of the time I use my dressing gown as a jacket, my hair is frizzy and I most likely haven't washed my hair in about a week (gross I know) & I look like I haven't slept in about a year. So next time you see someone on social media with their booty poppin' or what not remember that is not their everyday look.

13. Money is NOT everything - there are way more things more important than a huge paycheck.. I mean don't get me wrong money is great.. but whats even better is finding satisfaction in what ever you do.. trust me you don't want to be in a job that kills your soul (been there done that)
This is something I have learnt in the last 2 years, I have always thought (fuck knows why) that to be successful in life you had to have an job in a office or something like that.. so that is exactly what I did.. FOR 7 YEARS!! Was I happy.. NO did it destroy my soul... YES. All because it was not my passion in life.

14. Be grateful for what you have - It might not seem like a lot at the time but someone out there is wishing for exactly what you have right now in this moment.
I know sometimes in life it seems like you aren't making progress or don't have much but the truth is that there are less fortunate people out there so please be grateful for what you have and be proud of how far you have come, no matter what part of your journey you are on.

15. Believe in yourself, stop doubting yourself and just trust your gut.. you got this.
Something I have struggled with so much and I think it comes down to confidence, I'm not the most confident person In the world but I am getting there, Its taken me years to get to this point. Sometimes I have my moments where I am shitting bricks then other moments I am brave - just remember you never know where this moment could lead you.

16. If you keep being worried about what could be, you will never know
If you spend more time worrying about something, how will you ever know? Get out there give it a go & if it doesnt work at least you can say you tried.

17. Spend time with those who matter & make time for those who make time for you
Once you leave school life gets in the way, people get jobs & it becomes harder to hang out with the people who mean the most to you, so no matter how hard it is to T up always make time for the important people in your life.

18. Don't push your dreams to the side because of how long it will take to reach, that time will pass anyway
If its going to make you happy, then its worth it... Doesn't matter how long it will take or how old you are #YOLO

19. Sweet potato is life
Such a versatile vegetable!!

20. Saying no to things you don't want to do is OK!!
I am that person constantly trying to make sure everyone else is happy, but I always forget about myself, I end up stressed out and exhausted trying to make sure everyone else is good, but it is OK to say no if you can't do it. Remember there is only one you and you can only do what you can.

HOW TO STAY MOTIVATED IN WINTER

So over summer and the warmer months you were super motivated but now the mornings are getting colder, the nights are getting darker and you have lost your motivation?

Look we all go through to phases and I'm going to be brutally honest here (because that's just who I am) I don't think I know anyone who actually wants to bounce out of bed in winter but I do know a lot of people with goals which is why those people get out of bed regardless of the temperature.

Ask yourself this... Why would you put in all that hard work over the warmer months only to be back where you started because of a temperature change? Me personally I'm awake between 430am - 6am everyday (that includes weekends) why? because my goals are that big that they require action, nothing is going to happen if I just lie in my bed wrapped in a blanket burrito is it?

If you want results YOU have to take ACTION its as simple as that.

Here are a few tips to help get your ass into gear over the cooler months..
1. Make sure your clothes are laid out the night before
2. Make sure you have an easy breakfast prepared for pre or post workout (overnight oats, banana, boiled eggs etc)
3. Go with a friend to keep yourself accountable
4. Treat yourself to a new pair of nice long warm tights... check out https://www.runfastergear.com.au/shop/ I even have a discount code: EH10
5. Stop making excuses

Don't let all the hard work you have put in go to waste! Summer bodies are made in the winter.
